7th Conference of the Swiss Society of Health Economics

About the conference

The conference aims at bringing together researchers, policy-makers and practitioners to showcase and discuss cutting-edge research and emerging ideas in health economics. The theme of the conference is «Health Inequality». Submissions related to this theme are particularly welcome, but proposals from all areas of health economics will be considered for inclusion in the program.

The conference will take place on June 12 and 13, 2025 at the University of St. Gallen.

It consists of two parts, the PhD workshop on June 12 and the sggö conference on June 13.

Keynote speaker

Prof. Dr. Owen O'Donnell

Owen O'Donnell is Professor of Applied Economics in the Erasmus School of Economics and the Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management. He is a Research Fellow of the Tinbergen Institute. His research is in the field of health economics, with particular attention to health inequality, health & labour, health insurance & financial protection and health behaviour & prevention. He applies economics to challenges facing health systems in low- middle- and high-income countries. He has published in the Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Development Economics, Demography, Lancet and PLOS Medicine, among others. He is an Editor of the Journal of Health Economics. He obtained his DPhil from the University of York (UK) and has taught at the universities of Macedonia (GR), Lausanne (CH), Kent (UK) and Wisconsin-Madison (US).

Registration fees

CHF 50 for members of the sggö
CHF 90 for non-members

Please click here to apply for membership of the sggö. Please note that the registration portal closes on May 31, 2025 and registration after this date will not be possible.

Registration fees include a conference package, admission to all sessions (keynote, parallel sessions, panel), lunch and refreshments. Please note that your registration is not final until payment is received in full. Members of the sggö have to pay the membership fee prior to the conference, or pay the regular fee for non-members.

Registration is only for the conference itself, not for the PhD Workshop.
If you want to participate in the PhD Workshop, send an e-mail including an extended abstract or a draft of your paper to Beatrix Eugster by April 10, 2025. Drafts of full papers need to be submitted by May 15.
